Internet Tour - Milan, 3-4 Oct 2008

Archimedes of Syracuse, Greek mathematician, physicist and inventor, would have said: Give me the place to stand, and I shall move the earth. Now put his famous assertion in the modern age and link it to the person who deserve the warmest thanks for what have been done: Marco Montemagno, Codice Internet’s founder, launched his new show, held over two days, called Internet Tour. The main goal behind this show (that will be repeated in Rome and other cities in a couple of months) is to show as many people as possible what Internet is/represents and what terms like knowledge, collaboration or communication mean nowadays. Despite all the professionals guests invited to talk about their experience, a lot of non-technical attendees (young and old guys) participated, due to the very different and smart format that all the speakers have been able to provide. I followed Saturday’s afternoon discussions featuring the need for professionals to enter the internet industry. Stefano Venturi (Managing Director Italy at Cisco Systems, Inc.) and Pietro Scott Jovane (Managing Directory Italy at Microsoft Corporation) talked about their experience in the Internet industry and which roles they are playing, as well all the achievements reached until today. I very liked the Q&A session after their talks, many thanks to both of them for their attendance and helpfulness.
Of course the event would haven’t been possible without the bunch of big sponsors covering all the expenses, but I’d especially like to congratulate with Marco Montemagno and Sara Maternini (Community manager at Codice Internet) for their great work. Next time I’ll try to be more involved (even as speaker, if the organizers would like to) with this amazing project! Keep up the great work, guys!
Last but not least, David Weinberger’s appearance: I don’t have any suitable adjective to describe him, amazing would probably be not enough..
