What happens in NY?
What happens when two very touchy feely people meet each other?
Mario Calabresi, Italian journalist for Repubblica.it, published an interview between Roberto Saviano, Italian writer and journalist, author of the bestselling book Gomorra, and Salman Rushdie, Indian-British novelist and essayist, author of The Satanic Verses.
Roberto, that received strong threats after his worldwide success with Gomorra (nowadays translated in 42 countries), which strongly denounces the activities of the Camorra, lives today with a personal body guard.
Salman’s verses received violent protests from Muslim, faced with death threats and a fatwa issued by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini which called for him to be killed.
Both of them have something in common: They wrote something innovative (touching hot topics such as Italian’s criminal organisations), that can be considered as ‘real narrative‘, instead of write another boring novel or fiction narrative. I won’t speak about my thoughts regarding Italian’s criminal organizations, but I want to send kudos to them for such an excellent journalist work done until today.
